Victoria Bakare is a globally minded technology leader, content creator, and changemaker. By day, she excels as a Senior Software Engineer, and by passion, she dedicates herself to uplifting women in tech. Victoria has been internationally recognized for her work – she served as a UN Women Delegate at the United Nations’ 67th Commission on the Status of Women, and she was honored as a Financial Times Rising Star of the Year award winner in 2023 instalker.org. These accolades reflect her commitment not only to technical excellence but also to advocacy and impact.
Originally forging her career in the UK tech industry, Victoria experienced first-hand what it means to be a minority in the room. That journey ignited her mission to bridge opportunity gaps for others. She founded Stories of Women in Tech (SWIT) as a platform to amplify women’s voices in technology. Through SWIT, she is “leveraging the power of data in storytelling” to give women in tech the tools and resources for a “safe, healthy, thriving work experience” uk.linkedin.com. Her vision is to see more women enter, lead, and innovate in tech — and to feel supported at every step.
Beyond SWIT, Victoria launched the 100 Women of Colour in Jobs initiative to drive tangible change in diversity hiring. Her goal is to see at least one hundred women of color land new roles, and she actively mentors and encourages candidates to pursue opportunities they might have once thought out of reach. As an immigrant and a woman of color herself, Victoria brings a deeply personal understanding to this work. She champions others with the empathy of someone who has walked in their shoes, and the expertise of someone who has navigated the tech world successfully.
Victoria’s mission and values are rooted in inclusivity, education, and empowerment. She believes in the power of representation — that when young women and immigrants see someone who looks like them achieving great things in tech, it can spark their own ambition.
